Contact your insurance company and file a claim

Your insurance company will assign an adjuster to assess the damage to your property and provide you with an Insurance Adjuster’s Report. Later, you’ll receive a claim check to cover the damages. As your lender, Navy Federal will be listed on the check along with you because of our financial interest in the mortgaged property.

Once you have your insurance claim check and Adjuster’s Report from your insurance company, give us a call at 1-800-298-4540. We’ll walk you through the process and advise you how the funds will be handled. Depending on the amount of damage to your home, funds could be released to you directly, or we may hold the funds and release them as repairs occur.

Submit required documents

You’ll need to submit the following documents in order for us to release claim proceeds:

• Insurance Adjuster's Report
• Member Declaration

Complete repairs

Be sure to keep track of expenses and save your receipts to submit for review. We’ll check in with you periodically on the status of repairs and may schedule a mid-point inspection. Please contact us when everything is finished. If a final inspection is required, we’ll provide you with scheduling information. Once we’ve confirmed your repairs are complete and have received all required documentation, we’ll release any remaining funds to you.
