An Easy Way to Pay Federal Taxes—EFTPS
The Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS), a free service of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, allows individual and business taxpayers to make all federal tax payments electronically, including employment, income, estimated and excise taxes.
- No special equipment is required to use EFTPS. Business is conducted over the Internet or by phone
- Make tax payments 24 hours a day, seven days a week
- With payment scheduling, businesses can set up automatic payments as much as 120 days in advance of the tax due date; individuals can schedule up to 365 days in advance
- EFTPS automatically debits your checking account for the amount due, and payment details appear on your checking account statement
- Easy online enrollment at www.eftps.gov. Within 15 days, you'll receive confirmation materials and directions for creating a password to use for online payments
