Switch Your Checking

In just three quick steps, you can switch your checking account to Navy Federal.

Step 1: Open a checking account online. Your checking account comes with a free Visa^® Check Card—the combination debit and ATM card that's accepted worldwide at millions of locations.

• You’ll receive your starter checks in 7 to 10 business days.
• You can order more checks online.

Step 2: Sign up for Direct Deposit with Navy Federal.

• Fill out Navy Federal's Direct Deposit Enrollment Form and provide it to your employer or payroll office.
• Government agency employees download
  Standard Form 1199A and follow the instructions on the form.
• Active, retired/veteran or reserve military, DoD, and DFAS civilian employees, use myPay.
• Social Security, Supplementary Security or other federal benefit checks, use Go Direct.

You'll need your account number, which is located at the bottom of your checks.

Step 3: Stop using your old checking account, but keep it open until your direct deposit and automatic payments have moved to Navy Federal and all your checks have cleared.

• Fill out the Automatic Payment Change Notification and send it to the company(ies) debiting your account.
• Take a completed Checking Account Closure Notification to the appropriate financial institution.
